District coverage

Government directory snapshot plus notified Ladakh districts and separately labelled Mahe/Yanam administrative units. Counts describe published pages, not a legal assertion of current boundaries.

All 28 states and 8 union territories have public pages. District names follow the NIC directory snapshot, with sourced supplements. Puducherry’s Mahe and Yanam are separately labelled administrative units. New district notifications can outpace directory updates.

Local Government Directory codes are included only when state and district names match the linked legacy DILRMP table exactly; unmatched codes remain absent. They are not used to certify present boundaries.

Verified constituency-to-district mapping is currently available for the Patna baseline. Other district pages link to state election archives without claiming a current constituency overlay.

History, places & personalities

Wikipedia prose is explicitly labelled community reference, shortened and attributed to the cited revision under CC BY-SA 4.0. Wikidata structured facts are CC0. Records are imported only after an exact name, website or entity match; ambiguous matches are left unfilled. Personalities are connected through explicit district category membership or sourced Wikidata associations. Category membership does not establish birthplace or current residence. Place category associations are community-maintained rather than verified current boundary mappings.

Record photographs are downloaded only when Wikimedia Commons supplies an accepted reusable licence and author credit. Each photo links to its file page and licence. Cards without a sourced photograph use AI-generated scenes described on the image-credits page; these do not depict the named person or place or document a real project. Image credits and gallery → Missing history, images and biographies are shown honestly.

Election coverage & limits

TCPD’s June 2023 archive supplies historical Lok Sabha, State Assembly and separate Lok Sabha Assembly-segment records. Its early dataset includes elections from 1952, 1954, 1955, 1957 and 1960. Recent India Votes Data mirrors add the 2024 Lok Sabha election and available Assembly files through May 2026. Mirror records have passed structural checks; they have not all been independently reconciled with ECI final declarations.

This is an expanding archive. It is not a complete record of every election held to date. Recent missing Assembly cycles, by-elections, local body elections, Rajya Sabha and Presidential / Vice-Presidential contests require further imports. Unopposed and postponed constituencies can be absent from scraped vote tables. No inferred winner is certified.

Historical states, district fields, constituency numbers and delimitation identifiers remain as supplied. Current state filters help navigation; they do not redraw older boundaries. Segment rows and constituency totals must never be added together. Missing votes remain unknown rather than zero. Early multi-member elections preserve the source’s elected flags.

Place and personality collections are an initial selection, supplemented with curated records. They are not exhaustive lists of every attraction or person in each district.

11 malformed historical candidate fields were excluded because they contained concatenated records. Affected contest pages identify this gap and must not be treated as complete vote tables.
